INTRODUCTION

This update adds more definitions to the Junk Email Filter in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. These definitions evaluate whether an unread email message should be treated as a junk email message. This update was released on November 12, 2013.

To determine the version of the files that are installed on the computer, follow these steps, as appropriate for the operating system that you are running.

Windows 7

  1. Click Start, and then click Computer.

  2. In the Search Computer box, typeOutlfltr.dat, and then press Enter.

  3. Right-click Outlfltr.dat, and then click Properties.

  4. On the General tab, note the properties of the Outlfltr.dat file that is installed on the computer.

Windows Vista

  1. Click Start Start Button , and then click Search.

  2. Click Advanced Search.

  3. In the Location box, click Local Hard Drives.

  4. In the Name box, type Outlfltr.dat, and then clickSearch.

  5. In the list of files, right-clickOutlfltr.dat, and then clickProperties.

  6. On the General tab, note the properties of the Outlfltr.dat file that is installed on the computer.

Windows XP

  1. Start Search Companion. To do this, clickStart, and then click Search. Note If Windows Desktop Search starts, click Click here to use Search Companion.

  2. In the Search Results window, click All files and folders in the Search Companion pane.

  3. In the All or part of the file name box, type Outlfltr.dat, and then clickSearch.

  4. In the list of files, right-clickOutlfltr.dat, and then clickProperties.

  5. On the General tab and on theVersion tab, note the properties of the Outlfltr.dat file that is installed on the computer.

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

  2. Type Appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

  3. Use one of the following procedures, depending on the operating system that you are running.

    • Windows 7 and Windows Vista

      1. Click View installed updates.

      2. In the list of updates, click update 2825642, and then click Uninstall.

    • Windows XP

      1. Click to select the Show updates check box.

      2. In the list of updates, click update 2825642, and then click Remove.

After you update the administrative installation point, recache and reinstall Outlook 2007 on the client computers. Then, run a command-line command that includes the REINSTALL=[ list of features ] property. This property lets you reinstall specific components of Outlook 2007 from the administrative image. For this update, the value for the REINSTALL=[ list of features ] property is as follows:
