Summary

This article describes the Microsoft Outlook 2010 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated April 26, 2011.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 does not return search results when you search for email messages from a sender whose display name contains a (~) character.

  • When you use an IMAP account to log on to Outlook 2010, the envelope icon does not show in the notification area. Additionally, no sound is played when you receive an email message.

  • You cannot rename shortcuts for shared calendars in Outlook 2010.

  • Consider the following scenario. You use a view control to view a calendar through your browser on a computer. The computer is running Outlook 2010. You click on calendar items. In this situation, the view control does not respond.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You log on to a MAPI profile in Outlook 2010.

    • You configure the default message delivery location as a personal folder (.pst) file.

    • You click the Repair command in Account Settings.

In this scenario, the default message delivery location unexpectedly changes back to Exchange Server.

  • A Calendar public folder takes more than 10 seconds to display in Outlook 2010.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You add a large .pst file into Outlook 2010.

    • You create a search folder whose scope includes the .pst file.

    • You change the criteria of the search folder.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

The operation failed because of a registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, reinstall.

  • Assume that you create a recurring meeting that has an exception in Outlook 2010. When you view the exceptional instance in the calendar, even if the recurring meeting is not updated, you receive the following warning information:

The contents of this appointment have been updated. Open this appointment to see the updated text.

  • The 64-bit version of Outlook 2010 crashes when you try to save a rule for automatic replies.
