This article describes the issues that are fixed in the Microsoft Outlook 2013 hotfix package that is dated October 16, 2013.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • When you dock the calendar peek in Outlook 2013, meetings are only displayed in the Today view.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You install a plugin that associates a form region together with the Reading pane in Outlook 2013.

    • You open an inline reply.

    • You switch to another folder.

    In this situation, two form regions are displayed for the email message.

  • When you mark an email message as read or unread in the Inbox folder in Outlook 2013, the position of the Inbox folder is changed in the Folder pane.

  • Assume that you are a non-federated user whose account password expired less than ten days ago. When you log on Outlook 2013, you do not receive a password expiration notification.

  • When you synchronize Outlook 2013 with SharePoint Server, an alternative URL is used instead of the primary URL.

  • Assume that you enable Touch Mode in Outlook 2013 on a touch device. When you hover the mouse pointer over a calendar item to see the information about the item, no information is displayed.

  • When try to add attachments to an email message that is an inline reply by using the Outlook Object Model (OOM) in Outlook 2013, the body of the email message reverts to the text of the original email message.

  • Assume that a meeting request has a blank From field because the PR_SENT_REPRESENTING_NAME property is missing in Outlook 2013. When you try to update the meeting request, you receive the following error message:

    Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid.

Known Issues

After you install this hotfix package, you may experience the following issues:

  • Outlook crashes shortly after the program starts.

  • If you are using Outlook to connect to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 mailbox, you may experience the following issues:

    • You receive an error message that resembles the following when you try to configure Automatic Replies (Out of Office):

      Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.

    • You cannot retrieve Free/Busy data for calendar scheduling.

    • Add-ins that use the Account.SmtpAddress property no longer work.

These features rely on an underlying Autodiscover technology. After you install this security update, Autodiscover may fail for Exchange 2007 configurations. Therefore, Outlook features that rely on Autodiscover will also stop working.To resolve these issues, install the following hotfix package:
