This article describes the issue that is fixed in the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 hotfix package that is dated December 11, 2012.

INTRODUCTION

Issue that this hotfix package fixes

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You apply a cumulative update that was released after December 2011.

    • You have a list template (Schema.xml) that derives from an out-of-the-box template and that has not been updated with the changes from the Dec 2011 CU.

    • You try to save a file to a document library in SharePoint 2010. To do this, you use a file format that supports the HTML property dialog box and the content types functionality.

In this scenario, you receive the following JavaScript error in the script on the Internet Explorer page:

this.frm.ctNameTold is null or not an object

Additionally, the Internet Explorer page prompts you to decide whether you want to run scripts. However, whether you click Yes or No, the document is not saved to the document library.
