Cause

Cause 1

User Account Control (UAC) or lack of installation rights can prevent the Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 Web Client from installing correctly on a user's workstation.

Cause 2

Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 Web Client is not supported to run on the x64 (64-bit) version of Internet Explorer.

Resolution

Resolution 1

You can resolve this by granting the user local administrator credentials on the workstation and running Internet Explorer as an administrator.

The recommended method is to run Internet Explorer as an administrator.

1. On the user workstation, click Start, right-click Internet Explorer and then click Run as administrator.

2. Open the Forecaster Web Access website.  You are prompted to install the Forecaster Web Access Client.

Note If you are not prompted to install the client components, you will have to copy the MicrosoftForecasterWebClient.msi and msxml6.msi to the local workstation and run them both with administrative credentials. These files are located on the Server that is running IIS under the WebAccess\Cabs\Files folder where Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 Web Access is installed.

Resolution 2

There are two versions of Internet Explorer installed on x64 versions of Windows:

  • The x86 (32-bit) version is installed under C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\

  • The x64 (64-bit) version is installed under C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\

Microsoft Forecaster 7.0 Web Client is only supported on the x86 (32-bit) version of Internet Explorer.
