Symptoms
Assume that you use DotNet-type variable in a page in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013. When you close the page, you experience one of the following issues:

The RoleTailored client (RTC) crashes.
-
You receive one of the following error messages:

Server Page is not open.
-
Type: System.NullReferenceException Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

How to obtain the Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix or update files
After you request a Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix, a hyperlink will be sent to you in an e-mail.
The e-mail will contain a hyperlink and a password. You can use the hyperlink to download the Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix or the update files. When you click the hyperlink, the File Download – Security Warning dialog box opens. Then, you are prompted to run, to save, or to cancel the download.
If you click Run, the files start the download and the extraction process. You must specify a folder for the new files, and then provide the password.
If you click Save, you must specify a path for saving the compressed file. When you open the file that you saved, you are prompted to specify a path for the files. Then, you must provide the password provided in the e-mail.
If you click Cancel, the download process stops.
How to install a Microsoft Dynamics NAV platform hotfix
The Microsoft Dynamics NAV platform hotfixes are made available as single files. To install a Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix, you must replace the existing Microsoft Dynamics NAV installation files with the hotfix files. To do this, follow these steps.
Step 1: Replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server installation
In the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server installation, replace the files by using the hotfix files.

Copy the files in the NST folder from the files that you downloaded.

Paste the files into the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server installation directory. The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server is usually installed in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\70\Service

Click Yes to overwrite the files in the directory.

Start the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server service.

To replace these files, follow these steps:

Close the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client.

Copy the files in the WEB CLIENT folder from the files that you downloaded.
-
Paste the files into the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client installation directory. The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client is usually installed in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\70\Web Client
-
Click Yes to overwrite the files in the directory.
Note These steps must be followed for each Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client.
Step 4: Replace the files in the Microsoft Office Outlook Integration installationIf you have Microsoft Office Outlook Integration installed, replace the files in the Microsoft Office Outlook Integration installation by using the hotfix files.

To replace the files, follow these steps:

Click Yes to overwrite the files in the installation directory.

Paste the file into the language folders in the Microsoft Office Outlook Integration directory. The language folders are installed in the following directories:

Step 5: Replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Automated Data Capture System (ADCS) installationIf you have Automated Data Capture System (ADCS) installed, replace the following files in the Automated Data Capture System installation by using the hotfix files.
