Symptoms

Assume that you use the Location Information service for Microsoft Skype for Business, and you change the default interval time to update Skype for Business users’ location information. In this situation, the first update occurs based on the old interval time, which is unexpected. For example, the default interval time is four hours, and then, you change it to one hour. In this situation, the Skype for Business clients do not update the location information until four hours after the clients sign in. After that, the update occurs every one hour.

Cause

This issue occurs because the timer of the Location Information service starts before the in-band setting of the new location update interval time is processed.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the June 9, 2015 update (KB3054791) for Lync 2013 (Skype for Business).

Note Lync 2013 was upgraded to Skype for Business in April 2015.

More Information

Server-side administrator can change the interval time of location update to a value from 1 to 12. The default value is 4.
