This article describes an issue that occurs when you try to input text directly by disabling the Input Method Editor (IME) on a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device. Before you install the update, all previously issued updates for this product must be installed.

Symptoms

Assume that you use Japanese IME 3.1 in Windows Embedded Compact 7. When you try to input text directly to the edit box by disabling the IME, the IME will be forced to be enabled.

Resolution

After you apply this fix, you can enable or disable the Japanese IME by setting the value of the following DisableIMEControl registry:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\IME]DisableIMEControl"=dword:1 ; default is 0When you set its value to 1, the Japanese IME will be disabled when it gets the focus in an edit control.
