Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You develop a Smart Device project in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.

  • You enable an optimization compiler option. For example, you enable the /O2 option.

  • You compile the project by using the ARM compiler.


In this scenario, the ARM compiler may generate incorrect computer code. Additionally, unexpected behavior may occur when you run the generated application.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed.

We recommend that you exit any instances of Visual Studio before you apply this hotfix.
