Symptoms

Assume that you use the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 MDS Add-in for Excel to connect to a Master Data Services repository. When you publish a member for which the code field contains non-breaking spaces, you receive the following error message:

The user does not have permissions or the object ID is not valid.

Note This issue doesn't occur when you add or edit members in the MDS Explorer.

Cumulative update information

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server 2014:

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server 2014:
