HGMaruGothicMPRO (HG丸ｺﾞｼｯｸM-PRO in Japanese) is a typeface designed for typesetting the Japanese language using the Japanese script. It is a “gothic” (sans serif) design, with a light, simple, direct style, with very little contrast between thick and thin strokes, and with rounded ends to the strokes to give it a soft, gentle look. This style is popular in Japanese road signs. It is suitable for signage, titles, and headlines, rather than for body text.
HGMaruGothicMPRO was designed by Ricoh Industrial Solutions Inc. It has only one weight, and no italic style. The font includes Japanese kanji, hiragana, and katakana, along with a variety of symbols, as well as capitals and lowercase letters for the Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic alphabets. The Latin letters are wide and tightly spaced.
