Gaps can appear on the editing timeline when trimming or moving clips around. When there is a gap, you'll see a blank space between two assets. To avoid having gaps in your finished video, there are a few different ways to remove them.
How to remove single gaps on the timeline

Hover your cursor over a gap on the timeline to see the gap removal feature.

Click on the delete this gap button to remove the gap between two clips.
Using the gap removal feature will automatically rearrange the assets on the timeline so there are no gaps between clips.
You can also drag and drop assets on the timeline to the left to remove gaps. Assets will automatically snap together on the timeline to remove gaps.
How to remove stacked gaps on the timeline
The gap removal feature will also help you delete several gaps across multiple layers on the editing timeline.

Hover your cursor at the top of the timeline where is a stacked gap across multiple layers.

When the trash can icon appears over the timestamp, click on the delete this gap button to remove the stacked gaps.
Your media assets will then be rearranged on the timeline to remove the gaps.
How to remove extra small gaps on the timeline

If you have an extra small gap on the timeline, hover your cursor over the gap.

Right-click, then select delete this gap from the drop-down menu.

How to remove all gaps on the timeline at once

Click on the export button and the video editor will automatically detect any gaps in your video before exporting.

A popup window will appear with gap removal options. Select to clear all the gaps at once or return to the editor to remove them individually. You can also proceed to export if you meant to have those gaps there for a reason.
