Symptoms

Assume that you use Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Master Data Services (MDS) Add-in for Excel. When you load medium-sized to large-sized entities and models to an Excel worksheet, the performance is poor compared to the performance of the MDS web UI.

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:


How to obtain this updateYou can download the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Master Data Services Add-in for Microsoft Excel from the following Microsoft Download Center website:

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Master Data Services Add-in for Microsoft ExcelSelect the appropriate download, depending on whether you currently have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Excel 2013 or 2007 installed:

  • For the 32-bit version of Excel, download ENU\x86\MasterDataServicesExcelAddin.msi.

  • For the 64-bit version of Excel, download ENU\x64\MasterDataServicesExcelAddin.msi.

To determine which version of Excel is installed, start Excel, and then create a new workbook. To see the version information, click File, click the Account tab, and then click About Excel.
