Symptoms

Assume that you use Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or SQL Server 2014. When a deadlock occurs in SQL Server, you receive the following access violation that is caused by the deadlock monitor:

After the access violation, you receive the following error message from the SQL Server error log:

This error may be timing-related. If the error persists after rerunning the statement, use DBCC CHECKDB to check the database for structural integrity, or restart the server to ensure in-memory data structures are not corrupted.

Resolution

Cumulative Update information

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
