This update adds the following new attributes to the Showplan XML schema in SQL Server 2014 or 2016:
MaxCompileMemory under OptimizerHardwareDependentProperties: Maximum amount of memory available to compile a single query in kilobytes (KB).
MaxQueryMemory under MemoryGrantInfo: Maximum amount of memory available for individual query grant in KB, if the query requires memory to run.
The values for these attributes are provided in compliance with current server configuration and Resource Governor settings, as they are applied during query compilation and execution.
This update is included in the following service pack for SQL Server:
SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 2
SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 1
Service packs are cumulative. Each new service pack contains all the fixes that are in previous service packs, together with any new fixes. Our recommendation is to apply the latest service pack and the latest cumulative update for that service pack. You do not have to install a previous service pack before you install the latest service pack. Use Table 1 in the following article for finding more information about the latest service pack and latest cumulative update.
