Symptoms

When you rename a catalog item by using the same name in different case, the name can't be changed as expected. For example, you have a folder named "ABC", if you rename the folder to "abc", the change doesn't take effect after you click Apply. Although the navigation may display the changed name, it reverts to the original name when you refresh the page.

Note The navigation obtains the name value of the catalog item from the path of the URL.

Resolution

Cumulative Update information

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:


Workaround

To work around this issue, follow the steps to change the item name to a different case:

  1. Rename "ABC" to "TemporaryABC" and then click Apply.

  2. Rename "TemporaryABC" to "abc" and then click Apply.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
