Symptoms

Assume that you create a user in an earlier version of SQL Server Master Data Services (MDS). You assign some functional area permissions to the user. After you upgrade to SQL Server 2016 MDS, the functional area permissions settings are lost and the user is granted with all the functional area permissions expected for the Super User permissions.
