Symptoms

An access violation occurs when invalid credentials or an incorrect connection string is specified in SQL Server 2016 Analysis Services. Additionally, a dump file is generated.

Resolution

This update is included in the following cumulative updates:

Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 1
Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2016

Each new build for SQL Server 2016 contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous build. We recommend that you install the latest build for SQL Server 2016.
