Symptoms

Assume that you use Microsoft SQL Server, and you have a partition table in a database. When you use the sys.dm_db_incremental_stats_properties function to check partition information, not all partitions are shown if the data type of the partitioning column is any of the following types:  char, nchar, varchar, nvarchar, binary, varbinary, or sql_variant.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:

Cumulative Update 7 for SQL Server 2016 RTM

Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2016 SP1

Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 2
