Assume that you install the following in an instance of SQL Server 2017:

  • Microsoft SQL Server Distributed Replay (DReplay) Controller and Clients feature

  • SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) 17.x that contains the Microsoft SQL Server DReplay administration tool

After the installation, when you try to replay a captured trace by running the DReplay.exe file, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

Unexpected error occurred


This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

       Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2017
