Symptoms

Assume that you have Cumulative Update 8 for Microsoft SQL Server 2017 installed. If you set a value for the Accepted NTLM SPNs variable by using SQL Server Configuration Manager, an access violation occurs during startup of the server.

Resolution

A fix for this issue is included in the following update for SQL Server:
