Introduction

The Image Processing AI component for Qualcomm-powered Copilot+ PCs enables on-device image understanding and processing across Windows features and apps. It uses machine-learning models and runtime components for tasks such as scaling, segmentation, foreground and background extraction, and visual analysis. Running on dedicated AI hardware, it delivers fast, low-latency performance, keeps image data on the device, and supports enhancement, accessibility, and AI-assisted image editing experiences.

This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update.

Prerequisites

You must have the latest cumulative update for Windows 11, version 26H1 installed.

Replacement information

This update replaces the previously released update KB5089872.

After this update is installed, you should find the following update listed in Update history depending on the processor type in the device:

  • 2026-05 Image Processing version 1.2604.515.0 for Qualcomm-powered systems (KB5096579)
