Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
In Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, you configure a peer-to-peer transactional replication that includes multiple publications in a database.
-
You batch insert lots of rows into the tables that belong to these publications.
In this scenario, the latency is high for all the peer-to-peer distribution agents.
Cause
A lock is obtained in the sys.sp_MSgetpeerlsns stored procedure. This stored procedure explicitly requests an exclusive ROWLOCK table hint on a table. Although a row lock is requested, all the other distribution agents are still blocked because they are requesting the same keylock ID.
Note The sp_lock stored procedure can be used to show that all agents are waiting for the same keylock.Resolution
