These packages update Endpoint Protection client services, drivers, and user interface components.

Microsoft regularly releases antimalware platform updates to guarantee consistency in protection, performance, robustness, and usability in a malware landscape that is constantly changing. This update package is dated May 2015.

Update information

This antimalware platform update contains the following improvements:

  • The installation or upgrade of the Endpoint Protection client no longer fails on Windows 7-based computers that have Windows Management Framework 4.0 installed. Errors that resemble the following are no longer recorded in MSSecurityClient_Setup_4.*_EppManagement_Install.log, where the asterisk (*) represents the Endpoint Protection client version number:

    CAQuietExec64:  Error 0x80070001: Command line returned an error.
    CAQuietExec64:  Error 0x80070001: CAQuietExec64 Failed
    CustomAction BlueProviderInstall returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

  • The "Disable Client UI" option is now honored when it is selected from the notification area icon.

Prerequisites

To apply this update, you must have one of the following installed:

  • System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager

  • System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1

  • Service Pack 2 for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 and Update Rollup 1 for Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010

Restart information

You may have to restart the computer after you apply this update.

Note We recommend that you close Configuration Manager Administration Console before you install this update package.

Version information

This update brings the antimalware client version to 4.8.204.0. To find the version information, click About on the Help menu of the Endpoint Protection client user interface.

File information
