Information
The Microsoft BHOLD Suite is an additional set of modules for customers licensed for Forefront Identity Manager and Microsoft Identity Manager. The BHOLD modules have been deprecated, are not recommended for new deployments and no enhancements or updates are planned for those modules. Three of those modules have dependencies on platform technologies which are themselves no longer supported, so those modules will be removed from the product.
Within the BHOLD Suite, the three modules BHOLD Model Generator, BHOLD FIM Self-service integration and BHOLD Analytics each have a dependency on the end user browser to render its user interface. Prior to using those modules, a user must have previously installed Microsoft Silverlight in their Internet Explorer. Independent of BHOLD, Microsoft Silverlight will reach its end of support on October 12, 2021 (see link at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/silverlight-end-of-support-0a3be3c7-bead-e203-2dfd-74f0a64f1788 ). The Silverlight installer will no longer be available after the end of support date of October 12, 2021, and there is no replacement for Silverlight. Users which did not previously install Microsoft Silverlight in their browser will not be able to use these three modules, so they will be removed from subsequent distributions by Microsoft of the Microsoft BHOLD Suite, and no further updates will be available for those modules.
No action is needed for a customer who does not have a BHOLD deployment, or whose BHOLD deployment does not include any of those 3 modules.
Customers with an existing BHOLD deployment, should plan to first uninstall those 3 modules from their BHOLD server computers, and then uninstall Silverlight from any user computers that were previously interacting with that BHOLD deployment. Note this Silverlight end of support does not affect the BHOLD Core or Attestation modules, or other MIM features unrelated to BHOLD. Customers who have data held in BHOLD database placed there by the integration or model generator modules can export their data from the BHOLD database using the BHOLD Core web UI or the BHOLD API, described in https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoft-identity-manager/reference/mim2016-bhold-developer-reference.
