Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You develop a Windows Store app, and then you install the Windows Store app on a Windows 8-based computer.

  • The server for the Windows Store app sends a notification to the Windows Store app.

  • The notification contains a Windows 8.1 binding template. For example, the notification contains the TileBigImage binding template. Additionally, the Windows 8.1 binding template is in front of other binding templates.

In this scenario, the notification is not displayed in Windows.

Cause

This issue occurs because Windows 8 does not support the Windows 8.1 binding template. Therefore, the parser stops parsing the templates when it cannot parse the Windows 8.1 binding template.

Workaround

To work around this issue, move the Windows 8.1 binding template to the end of the notification.
