Applies To

When you create a video project in Microsoft 365 Copilot, you can replace parts of the video with AI-generated short clips.

Notes:

  • Short clip creation is currently only available to try in the Frontier early access program for eligible Microsoft 365 plans with Copilot add-on licenses.

  • Frontier includes early access to experimental features, which means features may change as Microsoft improves them.

  • Early Frontier features are initially available in English for U.S.-based subscribers. Availability will expand over time.

Replace part of a video

  1. In your browser, sign in at m365copilot.com

  2. Create a video project.

  3. Select the timestamp of the video where you want to replace existing media with a clip.

  4. Select Replace media.

  5. You can choose from out-of-the-box ideas and short clips you previously created, or you can type a prompt to generate a new clip.

Tip: More detailed prompts create better clips. Learn more about creating great prompts.

  6. Choose Generate a clip.

  7. Select Create.

  8. Select Play to play your clip. Select Looks good if the clip suits your needs.

Note: An "AI-generated" label will appear on your clip if your admin has enabled labeling.

  9. Your video project now includes your short clip.

  10. If you want to make more detailed edits to a short clip to include in a video, you can create short clips in Microsoft 365 Copilot and edit them in Microsoft Clipchamp.

Notes:

  • Editing the transcript isn't available for AI-generated short clips. You can edit the transcript for the rest of the video project.

  • Brand kits can't currently be applied to AI-generated short clips.
