  1. Go to stream.office.com in your web browser. It will open the sign in page.

  2. Type your email address and press Enter.

  3. Type the password and press Enter. Stream (on SharePoint) home page will open.

Notes:

  • If you have already signed in, it will directly open the Stream (on SharePoint) home page.

  • Microsoft Stream can be opened directly by playing the desired audio or video file from Teams, Outlook, Viva Engage, SharePoint webparts, OneDrive document Library, third party sites, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Lists.

Navigate the home page

Navigate through the homepage elements by pressing the Tab key (forward) and Shift+Tab (backward). The home page consists of the following four main landmarks:

  • Upload for uploading the file to the Steam video and audio player.

  • Screen recording for recording a video of your screen, window, or tab.

  • Camera recording for recording a video with your camera on.

  • Playlist for creating a playlist as per your requirements.

Use the Tab key to browse through recommended media files for you and press Enter to play the media in video and audio player.

Navigate the video and audio player

The keyboard focus starts with the video timeline and playback options, moves to the video controls, then the video title region (if applicable interactive content), and ends with the supplementary video content.

  • The audio and video controls are organized into two menu bars, separated by the Tab key.

  • The first menu bar has playback controls like Play/Pause, Volume, and Skip buttons.

  • The second menu bar has accessibility and screen options like Audio tracks, Toggle captions, Playback speed, and Full screen buttons.

  • Use arrow keys to navigate the menu items within the menu bar and press Enter to select menu items.

  • The third menu bar that holds supplementary content opens into a panel attached to the video and contains menu items like Comments, Analytics, Chapters, and a Transcript if available.

  • Navigate menu items by pressing the Tab key after the audio and video control menu bars. Use Up and Down arrow keys to navigate through the menu items and press Enter to select.

  • Content will vary across panels but focus immediately goes to the Close button. Press the Tab key to continue to panel content and eventually cycle back to the menu bar.

Notes:

  • Stream video and audio player can be embedded in various host surfaces like Loop, Outlook, OneNote, Stream Web App, Yammer, and SharePoint.

  • In host applications that use arrow keys to navigate, instead of the Tab use arrow keys to enter the player and press Enter to play or pause the video. To access more advanced video controls, simply press the Tab to officially enter the Stream video and audio player.

  • All navigation inside the video and audio player is the same regardless of host applications. To exit the player, press the Shift+Tab and then the Down arrow key to continue with the rest of the host application content.
