Summary
This article describes a country-specific update for Finland in regard to changes on the VAT report.
Starting from Jan 2018, Imported goods (VAT basis and VAT amount) need to be
reported on the VAT report.Overview
To address the requirements, the following changes need to be done.
Create new reporting codes 304 (VAT on import of goods from outside the EU ) and 310 (Imports of goods from outside the EU ) in Sales tax reporting codes (General Ledger -> Setup -> Sales tax -> External -> Sales tax reporting codes) with Finnish report layout. Make sure 307 (Tax deductible) is created.
Setup existing sales tax code (or create a new if needed) on which Import operations are booked in the following way:
Field on Report setup tab of Sales tax code |
Value |
Taxable import |
310 |
Use tax |
307 |
Offset use tax |
304 |
Note In order the settings work, the sales tax code should be marked as Use tax in the Sales tax group.
Amounts collected on the Reporting code 304 for the period will be summed up to Total amount of the reporting code 308 (VAT amount to pay/receive) on the Finnish sales tax report.
Example
The following table illustrates the settings in forms and report output for scenario when only one transaction on imported goods took place in the period (base amount 2000 EUR, VAT amount 480 EUR):
* Scenario is relevant for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012/Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2/Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3.
