When a benefit is set up based on the Plan Year, when the benefit year closes, the last close date is blank. This causes benefits to be zeroed out after the next check run

Consider the following scenario in Payroll in Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • In Benefit Maintenance (02.340.00) you set up a benefit with a Year Type of Plan Year.

  • You attach the benefit to an employee.

  • In Payroll Calculation (02.500.00) you enter a pay period Begin Date and End Date that includes 01/01/yyyy.

When you print the check, you notice that the benefit year closes for this employee.   However, the Last Close Date is blank.  This creates a problem as the benefit year will close again on the next paycheck and the employee’s accrued benefit hours will be lost.
