Applies ToWindows 10

Windows is available in editions that support both a single language and multiple languages. A single language edition of Windows is installed if one of the following messages is displayed when trying to add additional languages:

  • Only one language pack allowed.

  • Your Windows license supports only one display language.

To verify the edition of Windows that is installed on a device to see if it supports a single language or multiple languages, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the Start menu and then select Settings > System > About . Or Select the following System > About shortcut:Open System > About

  2. In the System > About window that opens, the edition of Windows is listed next to Edition under the Windows specifications section.

If the edition of Windows is listed as Windows 11 Home Single Language, then only a single language is supported. Additional languages can't be installed. All other editions of Windows 11 support installing multiple languages. To install additional languages when Windows 11 Home Single Language is installed, Windows needs to be upgraded to Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro. To open the Microsoft Store to upgrade, select the following shortcut:Upgrade to Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro For more information, see Upgrade Windows Home to Windows Pro or How to install or upgrade Windows using a product key.
