Here are a few things to try if Microsoft Edge doesn't open:

  1. Restart your device. Restart your device (in Windows, select the Start button, then select Power > Restart), and then reopen Microsoft Edge.

    • Select the Start button > SettingsUpdate & security > Windows Update, and then select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your PC is current, you have all the available updates installed.

  2. Install the latest updates. Run Windows Update to help correct problems by replacing outdated files, updating drivers, and fixing vulnerabilities.

Note: If you restart your device now, you'll lose connection to our chat. Go to What to do if Microsoft Edge isn't working and add it as a favorite in your browser so you can see this info late

  3. Repair or reset Microsoft Edge (on Windows). Select the Start button > Settings > Apps > Microsoft Edge > Advanced options. First try repairing your browser, and if that doesn't help, try resetting Microsoft Edge.

Note: Resetting will remove your history, cookies, and any browser settings you changed.

  • If you're using a Mac, you can reinstall Edge by launching any working browser, going to http://microsoft.com/edge, and then downloading and installing Edge again.
