Monitors have a designed resolution to display and can support lower resolutions, but the effect of text and display on them might not be suitable. Windows do its best to detect the optimal resolution for the monitor connected. Display resolution setting shows this resolution as “(Recommended)” in the options available in the drop-down menu.
If the screen in your PC or the screen in a connected monitor to your PC is looking wonky or not working as intended, you might need to adjust your display resolution to fix it.
Here are the steps to manage your display resolution in Windows:
-

From Start select, Settings > Display
 -

Scroll down to Display resolution
 -

Chose an option from the drop-down menu
 -

Select Keep changes.

Note: If you don’t select an option within 10 seconds, Windows will automatically revert the change. The intent of this timer is to switch back to the previous display settings in case the selection made is not the desired.
