See your child's device and app use with activity reports

Applies to: Microsoft Account

When you add your child to your family group and turn on activity reporting, you'll get weekly activity report emails that show you a summary of their activity on Microsoft Edge and on Windows 10, Xbox One, and Android devices that have Microsoft Family Safety installed.

The reports include games and apps they used, websites they visited, terms they searched for on search engines like Bing, and how much screen time they had. You can also view activity reports and turn the setting on or off from the web or in the Microsoft Family Safety app.

From the web:

  1. Go to family.microsoft.com and sign in with your Microsoft account.
  2. Find your child's name and select Activity.
  3. Select Manage, and if Activity reporting is turned Off, use the switch to turn it On.

If you don't want to get weekly activity reports in your email, but still want to see your child's online activity, switch Email me weekly reports from On to Off.

From the app:

  1. Sign in to your account in the Family Safety app.
  2. Find your family member. Next to their name, tap Last 7 days. Each card will show their activity.

Web and search activity

This section of the activity report shows all your child's recent searches, and the sites your child visited or tried to view.

From the web, you can allow or block any of the sites directly from the recent activity report by selecting Allow or Block next to the URL. To edit your child's content filters for the web, select Settings .

In the app, Web activity and Search activity are separate cards. Tap See all under Web activity to edit your child's content filters for the web.

Apps and games

Here you can see all the apps and games your child has been using, including any that were blocked.

On the web, you can also see their age rating next to the titles. To edit your child's app and game limits or filters, select Change restrictions or Block or set limits.

In the app, tap Today and then tap either Screen time or Content filters > Apps and games to edit your child's app and game limits or filters.

Screen time

For a breakdown of your child's overall time spent on each of their devices, the Screen time section indicates when and for how long your child used their devices throughout the week. You'll see a list of how much time they spent on their devices overall by each day, and how much time they spent on each device during the entire week.

To adjust your child's screen time limits, select Change restrictions. To do it in the app, tap Today, then Screen time > Devices
