Handouts cannot be downloaded during a Live Meeting Events meeting

Symptoms

Assume that a Live Meeting Events handout is uploaded by a Microsoft Office Live Meeting event organizer. It is then scanned by the Live Meeting service. In this situation, registrants for the meeting may be unable to download the handout.

The Live Meeting Events meeting organizer may receive the following message when they upload the handout to the meeting:
Handout upload is successfully completed, but the file was not scanned for harmful content or code.
Registrants to a Live Meeting Events meeting receive the following error message when they try to download the handout:
Unable to download handout. Please try again.
The handout has been removed from the server. This might be because it was deleted or overwritten in the meeting. For more information please contact the event organizer.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Live Meeting Events meeting handout was scanned by the Live Meeting service, and harmful code or content was detected. When harmful code or content is detected, the handout is removed from the Live Meeting servers. This causes the behavior that is described in the "Symptoms" section.

Resolution

The Live Meeting Events meeting will be delayed until the handout information is removed from the meeting. To remove the handout information from the meeting, the meeting organizer can follow these steps:
  1. On the Create or Edit an Event page for a meeting, under Step 4 - Meeting Elements, click Meeting Handouts.
  2. On the Meeting Handouts page, select the check box for the handout you want to remove from the meeting, and then click Delete Handout.
  3. In the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
  4. Click Done to return to the Create or Edit an Event page.
After the handout information is removed from the Live Meeting Events meeting, the meeting organizer can use third-party antivirus software to scan and repair the handout. After this procedure is complete, the meeting organizer can do the following to re-add the handout to the meeting:
  1. On the Create or Edit an Event page for a meeting, under Step 4 - Meeting Elements, click Meeting Handouts.
  2. On the Meeting Handouts page, click New Handout.
  3. On the Handout Add/Edit page, do the following:
    1. In the Handout text box, click Browse, or type the path and file name for the handout (required).
    2. In the Handout Description text box, type any instructions or information about the file that you want to provide to registrants.
