This can occur in environments with query traffic that exceeds 1,000,000 queries per month. The design of the Query Logging functionality expects a query volume of about 1,000,000 per month. Exceeding the expected volume of queries can result in excessive TempDB growth.
- Move the Search administration database to a dedicated SQL server that has a sufficient quantity of RAM and Hard Disk Space.
- If moving the Search administration database to a dedicated SQL server is not an option, open a new service request with Microsoft Customer Support Services to investigate the option of storing queries for a shorter time. The default value for storing queries is 1 year, and this parameter is not configurable. Reducing the duration of time that queries are stored can be an effective way to address this problem.
