How to obtain the latest version of Device Health

You can download and install Device Health by using Windows Update. For more information, see the "How to install Device Health by using Windows Update" section.

How to install Device Health by using Windows Update

To install Device Health in Windows XP, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.
  2. Wait for Windows Update to search for updates.
  3. Click Custom.
  4. In the navigation pane on the left side, click Software, Optional.
  5. In the details pane on the right side, select Device Health, and then click Review and install updates.
  6. Click Install Updates.
  7. After the update is installed, restart Windows Internet Explorer.

To install Device Health in Windows Vista and Windows 7, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.
  2. Click Check online for updates from Microsoft Update.
  3. Click the number optional updates are available link.

    Note The placeholder number represents the number of optional updates that are available to download.
  4. Select Device Health.
  5. Click OK, and then click Install updates to start the download and installation process.
To install Device Health in Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, follow these steps: 
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.

    Note If you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.
  2. Type Windows Update in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Install optional updates.
  3. Click Check online for updates from Microsoft Update.
  4. Click the number of optional updates that are available link.

    Note The placeholder number represents the number of optional updates that are available to download.
  5. Select Device Health.
  6. Click OK, and then click Install updates to start the download and installation process.

How to uninstall Device Health

To uninstall Device Health in Windows Vista and Windows 7, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
  3. In the Uninstall or change a program list, click Device Health, and then click Uninstall.
  4. Follow the instructions.
To uninstall Device Health in Windows XP, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. In the Currently installed programs list, click Device Health, and then click Remove.
To uninstall Device Health in Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, follow these steps:
  1. Swipe in from the right side of the screen, and then tap Search.
