We all think differently when holding a pen. Harness this change in perspective with Surface Pen.
- Top button
- LED light (glows white when in pairing mode, red when battery is low)
- Right-click button
Surface Pen attaches magnetically to the side of your Surface Studio display, so it’s there when inspiration strikes.
Pair your pen
First, you’ll need to pair the Surface Pen with your Surface Studio. To make sure it’s discoverable, press and hold the top button of the pen for a few seconds, until you see a white light on the flat side of the pen.
Try the Windows Ink Workspace
Select the pen icon to open the workspace.
Jot down a reminder in Sticky Notes, draw in Sketchpad, or take notes on a webpage, picture, or app by using Screen sketch. Get the details on using Windows Ink Workspace.
Tips for using the top button
Here’s what you can do quickly with the Surface Pen top button:
- Click and hold to open Sticky Notes.
- Click to open Windows Ink Workspace.
- Double-click to open screen sketch.
- Flip it over and use the top to erase.
To customize the pen buttons, go to Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink.
Here’s another great idea. Customize Surface Pen so OneNote opens with a click of the top button. Jot down your idea or to-do item, and it’s automatically saved.
