Why am I seeing this dialog?

You are trying to access a protected resource. The resource is redirecting you to authenticate.

do we really need to talk about form based authentication (FBA)?

What are the risks associated with it?

Hidetake can take a first stab at it.

What should I select on the dialog?

The dialog shows the host against which you are authenticating. If you trust the host, for example, its your own teams SharePoint site, or your HR or finance, you should press Yes button.

If you select the "No" option, the operation will be cancelled and you will be unable to access the content.

Can I disable form based authentication (FBA) altogether?

Yes, you can disable FBA on your computer or push this registry to all computers in your organization to disable FBA everywhere.

Follow the steps as described here on how to add a registry key.

Important: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restorationin case problems occur.
