Only full-width characters can be set as true vertical text. Half-width characters, such as numbers, are stacked as if they are Chinese or Japanese characters. However, you can set these to be combined so that they appear correctly.

  1. Select the half-width numbers that you want to appear together in a horizontal line.

  2. On the Home tab, under Paragraph, click Asian Layout  Home tab, Paragraph group, Asian Layout (JPN), and then click Horizontal in Vertical.
