In the Communities preview in Teams for personal and small business use, you can create a community to connect with others.

Note: The Communities app is in preview and is currently available for Android and iOS. Learn more about how to opt in to the Teams Insider program.

Create a community from scratch

  1. Tap the Communities tab in the Teams app.

  2. Tap the plus  Add button button in the top corner.

  3. Tap Create your own.

  4. Tap Teams Communities add community profile picture to select an emoji or a picture for your community.

  5. Tap Name your community to add a community name, which is required to create your community.

  6. If you wish, tap Description to add one and tap Guidelines to update it for your community.

  7. Tap the check mark to finish creating your community.

After creating a community, you are the owner. You can search for people to add, share an invite link, or show a QR code to others so they can join your community.

Use a template to create a community

Templates use a preset name and picture to help you get your community started quickly. For example, you can create a Neighborhood or Gaming community to share with others.

  1. Tap the Communities tab in the Teams app.

  2. Tap the plus  Add button button in the top corner.

  3. Tap the template you want to use, for example, Neighborhood or Gaming.

  4. Tap Name your community to add a community name, which is required to create your community.

  5. To customize your community, you can change the community picture, Description, and Guidelines.

  6. Tap the check mark to finish creating your community.

After creating a community, you are the owner. You can search for people to add, share an invite link, or show a QR code to others so they can join your community.

  4. Tap The Add option when creating a community, which allows you to add a community picture to select a picture or emoji for your community.

  5. Tap Name your community to add a community name, which is required to create your community.

  6. If you wish, tap Description to add one and tap Guidelines to update it for your community.

  7. Tap Next to finish creating your community.

After creating a community, you are the owner. You can search for people to add, share an invite link, or show a QR code to others so they can join your community.
