Create a new task list

There are two ways to create new task lists in Teams for your personal life: from the Tasks tab, and directly in one-to-one and group chats.

From the Tasks tab (personal tasks)

  1. Select the More  More options button  tab.

  2. Select Tasks.

  3. Select the Add icon  Teams plus icon black  or select one of the premade personal task lists.

  4. Enter a Title if you’ve made a new list. The task list will be a personal task list unless you share it. 

    • If you wish to share this list, select add to Shared, then select the chat in which you wish to share the list. 

  5. Select Create.

  6. Add tasks by entering them in the Add a task field.

  7. When you’re finished adding tasks, select the Back icon Teams android back icon . Your task list will appear in your Personal lists or your Shared lists, depending on what you selected earlier.

From a chat (shared tasks)

  1. Go to the chat in which you want to create a task list.

  2. Select the Dashboard tab.

  3. Select Add a new task list in the Tasks area to create your first task list.

    • If you already have task lists, select any task list in the Tasks area, then select the More icon More options button , then select Add a new task list  Add button .

  4. Type a name for your new task list, then select Create.

    Tip: If this is the chat’s first task list, you will only have the option to add tasks. You can rename the task list after your tasks have been added.

  5. Select the task list you created.

  6. Add tasks by entering them in the Add a task field.

  7. When you’re finished adding tasks, select the Back icon Teams android back icon . Your task list will appear in the chat dashboard. The tasks will be shared with all the members of that chat.

From the Tasks tab (personal tasks)

  1. Select More  More options button , then select the Tasks tab.

  2. Select the Add  Add button icon.

  3. Enter a Title for your new list. Select the radio button for Personal or Shared task

    • If you wish to share this list, select the Shared radio button, then select the chat in which you wish to share the list. 

  4. Select Create.

  5. Add tasks by entering them in the Add a task field.

  6. When you’re finished adding tasks, select the Back icon Teams iOS back icon . Your task list will appear in your Personal lists or your Shared lists, depending on what you selected earlier.

From a chat (shared tasks)

  1. Go to the chat in which you want to create a task list.

  2. Select the Dashboard tab.

  3. Select Create a task list in the Tasks area to create your first task list.

    • If you already have task lists created, select See all in the Tasks area, then select the  Add icon.

  4. Name your task list and select Create.

  5. Add tasks by entering them in the Add a task field.

  6. When you’re finished adding tasks, select the Back icon Teams iOS back icon . Your task list will appear in the chat dashboard. The tasks will be shared with all the members of that chat.
