On the View tab, selectÂ
 ​​​​​​​Outline View. -
In the slide thumbnail pane, select the thumbnail and type.

Press Enter for a new line. First-level items are slide titles. Press Tab once to demote the current line one level. Press Shift+Tab to promote the current line one level.
You can also right-click an item and choose Demote, Promote, and Move Up or Move Down.Â

Creating an outline isn't currently possible in PowerPoint for the web. You can, however, create an outline in the PowerPoint desktop app.

To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select
 Editing and choose Open in Desktop App. ​​​​​​​
