Create named ranges or cells

1. Select a cell or range of cells to name.

2. On the Formulas tab, select   Define Name.

3. Type a Name, check Refers to (the range), and Scope.

4. Add a Comment and select OK. 

Tip: To edit named cells or ranges, on the Formulas tab, select Name Manager.

Naming a range of cells isn't currently possible in Excel for the web. You can, however, name a range of cells in the Excel desktop app.

• To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.
