Assign or remove a keyboard shortcut

  1. Categories    Select the category that contains the command or other item that you want to assign a keyboard shortcut to or remove a keyboard shortcut from. Press DOWN ARROW or UP ARROW to select the category with your keyboard.

  2. Commands    Select the name of the command or other item that you want to assign a keyboard shortcut to or remove a keyboard shortcut from. Using your keyboard, press the TAB key repeatedly to move to the Commands box.

    Current keys    Any keyboard shortcuts that are currently assigned to that command or other item appear here. With your keyboard, use the UP or DOWN ARROW to select commands or other items.,

  3. Press new shortcut key    Press the combination of keys you want to assign, starting with a CTRL or Function key. With your keyboard, use the TAB key to get to Press new shortcut key.

    Important: Reassigning a combination of keys means that you can no longer use the combination for its original purpose. To restore the keyboard shortcut assignments to their original settings, select Reset All.

  4. Save changes in    The current document name or template (like the default, Normal.dotm) that you want to save the keyboard shortcut changes in. With your keyboard, press the TAB key to get to the Save changes in box.

  5. Description    Describes the currently selected command.

  6. Assign    Assigns the new shortcut key combination you've selected to a command. Press the TAB key to get to the Assign key.

  7. Remove    Removes the currently selected key. Press the TAB key to get to the Remove key.

  8. Reset All    Returns all shortcut key assignments to their default values. Press the TAB key to get to the Reset All key.

  9. Close    Closes the dialog box. If you set a new shortcut key but didn't press Assign, it will be lost.
