Applies ToWord for Microsoft 365 Word for Microsoft 365 for Mac Word for the web
  1. On the File tab, select Options and choose Customize Ribbon.

  2. Add, remove, or reorder tabs and groups, and rename or change the order of commands.

  3. When you're done customizing, select OK.

The ribbon isn't customizable in Word for the web. You can, however, use and customize the ribbon in the Word desktop app.

  • To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.

  1. On the Word menu, select Preferences and choose Ribbon & Toolbar.

  2. Add, remove, or reorder tabs and groups, and rename or change the order of commands.

  3. When you're done customizing, select Save.
