Download a font file from a trusted website. These files are often in a .zip folder format.

Open the .zip folder (it's likely in your Downloads folder).

Double-click the font file to open the Font Previewer and select Install.

Restart Word, select the Font dropdown on the Home tab and choose the new font.
Tip: To change the font using existing fonts, see Change font.
Downloading a new font isn't currently possible in Word for the web. You can change fonts or open the Word desktop app and download a font.

To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.

Open the folder or zip file and double-click the font file.

If you like the preview, select Install Font to open in the Font Book.

Close the Font Book and restart Word. Choose the new font from your Word font list.
