After you add a photo, graphic, or picture to your slide, you have many ways to enhance it—such as artistic effects (blur, glow, and more); preset styles that include a border and shading; and color and brightness/contrast adjustments.

Adjust the brightness, contrast, or sharpness
1. Select the picture.
2. Select Picture Format and select Corrections.
3. Hover over the options to preview them and select the one you want.

Apply artistic effects
1. Select the picture.
2. Select Picture Format and select Artistic Effects.
3. Hover over the options to preview them, then select the one you want.
Note:Â You can apply only one artistic effect at a time to a picture, so applying a different artistic effect will remove the previously applied artistic effect.
Change the color
1. Select the picture.
2. Select Picture Format and select Color.
3. Hover over the options to preview them, then select the one you want.
Apply picture effects
1. Select the picture.
2. Select Picture Format and select Picture Effects.
3. Select the one you want: Shadow, Reflection, Glow, Soft Edges, Bevel, or 3-D Rotation.Â

Add a border
1. Select the picture.
2. Select Picture Format > Picture Border, then select a border.

Remove the background

Compress the picture
1. Select the picture.
2. Select Picture Format and select Compress Pictures.
3. Select the options you want, then select OK.

Edit a picture with the Edit Picture tool
You can quickly make advanced edits right from PowerPoint using the Edit Picture tool. Open it in one of two ways:

Right-click the picture and select Edit Picture from the floatie.

Or, go to Picture Format and select the Edit Picture button on the left side of the ribbon.
When the Edit Picture window opens, choose any of these tools:
Add text

Select Add text.
-
Choose Text box or a text style.
-
Type your text.
-
Position and adjust the text on the image.

Select Update.
Erase
-
Select Erase.
-
Brush over the area you want to remove, or draw a box around the object you want to edit.

Select the Erase button to apply the removal.

Choose one of the following:

Select the Back Arrow to return to the main menu and keep editing. (Erase changes are accepted by default and can be undone with Undo.)

Or select Update to save all changes and return to your slide.

Move
-
Select Move.
-
Brush over the area you want to move, or draw a box around the object you want to edit.

Select the Move button to make the object editable.

Drag to reposition or resize the object within the image.
-
Select Update to save all changes and return to your slide.
Upscale
-
Select Upscale.
-
PowerPoint will improve the image resolution.

Compare results by dragging the slider — the left shows the original image (before), and the right shows the upscaled version (after).

Select Accept to apply the upscaled result, or Discard to keep the original image.

​​​​​​​Select Update to save all changes and return to your slide.
Remove background

Select Remove background to automatically detect and remove the background.

​​​​​​​Select Update to save all changes and return to your slide.
Auto enhance
-
Select Auto enhance.
-
PowerPoint will improve the image coloring and vibrance.

Compare results by dragging the slider — the left shows the original image (before), and the right shows the enhanced version (after).

Select Accept to apply the enhanced result, or Discard to keep the original image.

Select Update to save all changes and return to your slide.
Effects

Select Effects.
-
Choose from the available artistic or stylistic effects.

Select Accept to apply the result, or Discard to keep the original image.

Tip:Â Once the picture has been updated, you can only undo all changes together.
