On the File tab, select Account, and see the following:Â

Top of page: This section will tell you whether your copy is a subscription or stand alone version, who it's registered to, and the apps included.Â

On the About Excel button: Shows the release number, like 2105 (May 2021), and build number (14026.201). Usually only used by Microsoft internally or by Office Insiders.Â

In the About Excel dialog: Select About Excel for the full and sub version number, such as 16.0.1. This is often used when discussing features and upgrades. It also shows if it's a 32-bit or 64-bit version.Â

On the Excel menu at the top toolbar, select About Microsoft Excel.Â
You'll see the current version and who has the license.Â
Excel for the web is part of the Microsoft 365 subscription suite of online apps. It updates to the most current version automatically every time you log in.

To find the build number, On the File tab, select About.

At the bottom of the page under Recommended, you can the Build version.
