Note: Channel Agent for Teams channels is currently in public preview, and features are likely to change. To learn more about Microsoft's public preview program, see Get early access to new features in Microsoft Teams.
Creating tasks for projects are time consuming and tedious. Channel Agent can make it easier for your team to create project tasks by reviewing your channel’s messages and intelligently creating and assigning new Microsoft Planner tasks to team members.
Create project tasks using Channel Agent
-
In Teams, navigate to your Channel Agent's channel.
-
In the channel’s compose box, @mention your agent and ask it to check if there are any new or outstanding tasks for your project.
-
Prompt: @EngineeringChannelAgent, can you create new tasks for the new project tasks talked about for this sprint?
-
-
The agent will respond with a Microsoft Planner task list that includes task details, like task title, current progress state, assignees, and a completion date.
-
You can edit the tasks in Planner.
-
What happens when adding new tasks from Channel Agent
Once Channel Agent has created tasks, the following occurs:
-
Tasks are created in the project’s Planner plan.
-
The person who asked the agent to create tasks is attributed as the tasks’ creator in Planner.
-
A channel message is sent to the channel that new project tasks have been created.
-
People who were assigned tasks are notified that they’ve been assigned tasks.
